HOW CREDIT HISTORY WORKS

HOW CREDIT HISTORY WORKS

Credit history is your financial track record. When you borrow money or use a credit card, lenders report how consistently you make payments, how much credit you use, and how long you’ve managed accounts. Over time, that history determines your credit score — a number of lenders use to decide whether to approve you and what interest rate to offer.

THE PROCESS

Three steps to your first credit score

❶

Join KeyPoint
Become a member in minutes online or at any branch. All you need is a valid government photo ID and $10 to open a Membership Savings account.

❷

Choose Your Starter Product
Our team helps you pick the right product for your situation — no judgment, no jargon, just a clear recommendation.

❸

Make on-time payments and watch your credit grow
We report every payment to Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. Consistency is the single biggest driver of your score. Track your credit score through online banking. Most members see a score appear within 3–6 months.
