Regulation D

Regulation D, a regulation imposed by the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve, limits the number of certain types of withdrawal transactions that KeyPoint Credit Union may allow on your non-checking share accounts (meaning savings and money market accounts).

On savings and money market accounts, the following transactions (or any combination thereof) are limited to six (6) per month, of which no more than three (3) of the six (6) may be made by check, debit card, or similar order and payable to a third party:

  1. Overdraft agreements where money is automatically withdrawn from a savings or money market account to cover overdrafts in any of your other KeyPoint Credit Union accounts.
  2. On-Call Phone Center transfers or other telephone transfers from your KeyPoint savings or money market accounts to other accounts of yours or to third parties.
  3. Online Real-Time Banking transfers from your savings or money market accounts to other accounts of yours or to third parties.
  4. Pre-authorized, automatic transfers (ACH) made at predetermined times from your KeyPoint savings or money market accounts to third parties or to your other accounts.

You may make as many withdrawal transfers as you wish from your savings or money market accounts to repay loans and associated expenses where KeyPoint Credit Union has made the loan to you or services the loan. You can also make as many withdrawals as you wish from your KeyPoint savings or money market accounts if you make the withdrawals in person, by mail or at an ATM.

Regulation D permits as many withdrawal transactions as you wish, by any method, in any amount (provided you have sufficient funds), on checking accounts.

If you exceed the withdrawal transaction limits on money market or savings accounts, you must open a KeyPoint checking account to handle the transactions or use an existing KeyPoint checking account for these transactions.
