KeyPoint Credit Union Shares Its Community Spirit with Fire Victims

Employees of KeyPoint, contributed over $18,000 to help survivors of the November Camp Fire

SANTA CLARA, CA (December 20, 2018) – KeyPoint Credit Union was founded to improve the lives of people, and that remains the guiding principle of our daily operations. We embrace this philosophy of social responsibility by investing in our communities through participation in ongoing projects and programs. But our commitment to community goes beyond our immediate service area.

The devastating Camp Fire in Butte County last month was almost 200 miles north of KeyPoint Credit Union headquarters in Santa Clara. But its impact was felt in the smoky air that hung heavily over the Bay Area for weeks. The fire –– the worst in state history –– claimed 86 lives and destroyed over 18,000 homes and buildings.

“The smoke here was a vivid reminder to us that a community like ours in Northern California was desperately in need of assistance,” says Andy Ramos, EVP & Chief Retail Officer. “We wanted to do whatever we could to help, so we organized an emergency fund drive that matched the cash contributions made by KeyPoint employees. We were able to contribute over $18,000 to help the survivors of the fire.”

John Cassidy, CEO of Sierra Central Credit Union, who spearheaded the fire relief effort in the Paradise, CA community, adds, “A big thanks to the management and employees of KeyPoint Credit Union for their contributions and support. Their generosity is shining bright on the faces of our community members here in Northern California.”

KeyPoint has also been proactive with its Relief Assistance Program –– helping those directly impacted by recent fires in Butte County, and previously in Santa Barbara, Sonoma, Napa and Lake Counties The program provides emergency funds up to $5,000 at 0% interest rate for 24 months and deferred payments for 90 days.

“At KeyPoint, our focus is on giving back to the community –– including our members in Butte, Santa Barbara, and Sonoma counties, says T. Bradford Canfield, President & CEO of KPCU. “We’re proud to build on the strong values we share with credit unions across the country –– always putting the community and our members first.”
